Flying change

Saturday was my private lesson on Henry, it had been hailing in Spring spooking the horses making people fall off. When I got on Henry seemed a little un-easy even though the hail had stopped. He seemed to relax though when we got walking down to the arena. We warmed up by cantering very fast round and round! Then we started a figure of 8 but instead of slowing to a trot in the middle, we were going to do a flying change over a jump so we could then canter in the other direction without having to stop so he could change legs.

On my first attempt at this I managed to do it two times perfectly, it felt great! Henry, when we landed from the jump always did a little squeak which was pretty funny. I was so proud that I was able to do it, it was a great feeling to be able to be like part of the horse, controlling his every foot step instead of telling him to do things and he does them.
